Meet Debbie Gatewood

Dedicated to the service industry of helping others find their dream home.

“A city girl living in a country world” best describes Debbie Gatewood. Born and raised in a south suburb of Chicago, Illinois, Debbie moved to middle Tennessee in 2015. While playing collegiate level volleyball at Saint Xavier University, Debbie earned her undergraduate degree in History Education. She began a 20 year teaching career and completed her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration. During that time she also booked and promoted a country music band landing opening acts in front of Nashville’s hottest artists. 

Drawn to the beautiful scenery and much warmer climate, Tennessee became her family’s next destination in 2015. The tiny house lifestyle eventually led to building a home in Murfreesboro with her husband and two daughters. The positive experience Debbie had with her agent convinced her to start her own business. With encouragement from friends and family, Debbie made the transition from education to real estate by becoming a REALTOR® in 2021.

It is no wonder Debbie became a Realtor®. Teachers make some of the best real estate agents! Helping clients is very similar to helping students. Like teaching, real estate is a communication and interaction centered profession. Debbie believes maintaining strong relationships with people is key to a successful career in and outside the classroom. The secret behind a real estate transaction is a lot like a lesson plan. Real estate agents must be highly organized and effectively communicate with their clients. Debbie’s skills from the classroom- good listener, problem solving, and multi-tasking-will benefit her in real estate. Debbie credits her background in education with helping her get two homes under contract within the first two months in the business. 

It was an easy decision for Debbie to join Parks Real Estate Company in Smyrna, Tennessee. Parks is number one in the industry with a $6 billion sales volume in 2021. Debbie wanted to learn from the best in the industry. She is being trained by experienced Parks agents and brokers that follow the coveted Ninja Selling sales system developed by Larry Kendall and The Group, INC Real Estate.
